Direct from the vets of vetport

We have had three Veterinary Practice software programmes before we switched to the Vetport. Each one had its advantages and disadvantages right from poor vendor support to technical flaws in the programs.
We were looking for a program, which could match our style of functioning. Ours is a multi veterinarian practice where in we required simultaneous use of individual computers. Vetport offered just what we were looking for. Totally web based nature takes out worries of hard disc crash / system crash etc. We can work independently yet it inculcates sense of responsibility, discipline. As the practice owner it gives me superior control over the proceedings be it the treatment part or financial transactions.
EMR is the key feature of this program and we do realize the importance of it. It offers hassle free record keeping be it the lab reports or Xray reports. We are just a few steps away from having a virtually paper free office. Days are not far when our clients would just walk in with their pets sans medical files.
Our clients are quite happy with the kind of services the program offers. Quite a few of our clients have enrolled for the yearly subscription and do appreciate the transparency offered by the program.
Vetport is the program for the future and we sincerely wish to have a long lasting relation with the Vetport team. Sincere thanks and many congratulations for bringing us this revolutionary tool to our practice.
Warm Regards

We were ramping up for the launch of Baker House Animal Hospital during 2004 when my partner approached me about using a software system he and a group of engineers had been tinkering with. The software was to be a web-based practice management solution for veterinarians. I was skeptical as it was at best nascent. Baker House was to be a startup practice and I was worried about the problems we might encounter with an untried and developing system. I humored him and together we penned some sample problem oriented medical records - complete as we would like to see them if done by hand. Within weeks I saw the interpretation of those records into a rudimentary but functional electronic medical record with soaping processes in place! Dr. Molloy had been insisting this project was being created on the “holy grail” of development systems. After seeing the first pass on the emr I was starting to believe him.
Several months later on March 5, 2005 Baker House Animal Hospital opened its doors on an unproven, barely tried practice management system now called “Vetport”. I no longer was skeptical, I now thought I was nuts for letting this happen. We were “paperless”. Not only were we going to attempt to operate our business processes with Vetport but this was to be our entire medical record system.
The Baker House Practice went on to grow at a blistering pace with support of the Vetport system. The Vetport team is totally committed; developing and supplying bug fixes 24 hours a day, sometimes 7 days a week. There were growing pains but today I can say we have an extremely stable, fast, efficient and full system. A system I can access and use from anywhere in the world - even on my Apple iPhone. Recently we participated in the “One Laptop Per Child” “Give One Get One” initiative and are happy to give a child in a third world country such a valuable learning tool - the XO laptop. At the same time we look forward to having an XO laptop at Baker House - the first “$100” laptop. Well actually $200 but we know with our support and others Nicholas Negroponte’s “$100”, ie textbook laptop, dream will come true. I am told Vetport will work great on this system as it is the only system of its kind that can be accessed anywhere, anytime on anything. I wasn’t sure in March of 2005 about the future but now I feel confident in saying Vetport is built for the future.
Sincerely Yours,

In 2003, I first wrote my list of requirements for the replacement to my existing clinic software package. I wanted a package based on internet technology. I wanted a system that made it easy to use my other computer applications along with it. I wanted a system that would not obsolete all my legacy hardware. I needed a system that was economical and priced fairly for the size of the practice. I wanted an option to use Windows, Apple or Linux seamlessly. I wanted the flexibility to host the program server in house or remotely. From a records basis it was necessary to have a POMR with an emphasis on client communication. Finally and most important i wanted an information management system and not just a practice management program.
As I made my list it was evident that the internet was to become the primary communication vehicle of the future. It made sense to find a product that was internet based in order to exploit the trend. It is my opinion that the ability to efficiently move information from the client to the veterinarian to the referral centre (as needs be) and back again will be the core of all future trends in veterinary medicine. As the volume of information that must be handled to help our patients thrive multiplies, the ability to consolidate that information and make it useful and available to colleagues, clients as well as within the hospital keeps getting harder. Another one of the advantages of the internet was I could access my data anywhere i could get online. Also clients could enter their pet's file and get the details of the visit to help them remember exactly what was discussed and how follow up and progress was to be measured.
Fortunately I found Vetport while crawling the web and began my relationship with Vetport's staff. The strength of the Vetport program backbone continues to amaze. The rapidity and elegance of program upgrades since we started to deploy Vetport is simply astounding. To my untutored mind this must reflect the robustness of the backbone of the application. For the program to be so flexible as to allow all the features present without a drain on performance reflects a very strong foundation. Often with a program one begins to get a feel that one is wringing as much performance out of the system as possible and with the more you ask it to do the program begins to slow or crash. We have seen no tendency for this with Vetport. We have had nine computers logged into Vetport simultaneously with no sense of diminished performance.
We anticipate a lengthy relationship with Vetport. My firmly held opinion is that software developed for a veterinary practice that does not embrace the internet is already functionally obsolete.I am grateful Vetport has provided us with with the product needed to go into the next decade and wish the Vetport team all the best.
Respectfully Rae Worden.

Discovering Vetport Veterinary management software in July of 2006 was truly a God send. At a time when for my three clinics I knew that it was necessary to improve customer service while promoting the practice through internal, as well as, external marketing , Vetport could not have been a better fit.
The fact that Vetport could be used as an internet based program appealed to me because it would allow me to access my clinics, and client, patient, sales, or financial data from anywhere if I had access to a computer and high speed internet. Being able to operate in house on my own server should I so choose to do so in the future gave me all the options I could desire. Combine that with the reasonable cost and the varied op- tions available for initiating and maintaining the program and I was sold with a judicious amount of skepticism.
Having been computerized since 1994 using another Veterinary management software I had many thoughts as to how various aspects of client access, invoicing and financial data should be handled. It was because of this that I discovered what kind of service I was to receive and the value it provided. The support has been incredible. When I have had questions or suggestions they have all been received with considera- tion for my concerns and dealt with promptly. Almost always within minutes, but always within hours. I remember one such suggestion made only a month or so ago. I realized that in checking in a client our staff moved straight to the patient record without pulling the chart, which would result in the need for a redundant return to the client data to ob- tain the client chart number. I placed a call to support at 7:00 A.M. and before I got to the office at 8:00 A.M. the programing change had been made and when a patient was accessed the client record number was included in the field in the upper right corner . I was thoroughly impressed. This is one of many improvements that were made seam- lessly with but a simple call and suggestion. For the very few times that there have been any difficulties they have been dealt with promptly.
The superb service I referred to above only scratches the surface of the value of this software. The logic of the problem oriented medical record, which is the gold stan- dard for medical record keeping, combined with the facility of accessing the electronic medical record and transferring all of the patient history via email, including photo- graphic images, radiographs, etc., is not only time saving and impressive to those that receive, but a valuable marketing tool when explained or demonstrated to new or exist-ing clients. The automated emails generated to the clients email address after a client contact, explaining how to access there pets records independently as well as how to use the extensive library of information available within the program and thanking them for allowing us to provide their veterinary care, is an invaluable service touch. The ability to generate marketing information and to have it delivered via email, snail mail, or phone is awesome and incredibly easy. The ease with which patient photos can be im- ported into the system thereby displaying the patients photo on invoices, statement, re- minders etc. is sweet. The associated web site for our practice, acavet.net, allows for marketing campaigns for new clients looking for veterinary care in the area .
Probably most important in our transition to Vetport was the ease with which our staff was able to acclimate to the new software environment, and for those who had more difficulty it was incredibly easy for a more savvy staff member to assist via phone, explain the procedure and actually complete the process for client/patient processing from miles away if necessary, guaranteeing client satisfaction , and protecting the finan- cial interests of the practice. The potential to use Vetport as a completely paperless sys- tem, though not implemented by us at this time is appealing.
Vetport has been an incredible addition to my practices. We are still discovering and implementing new ways to use the system to satisfy our clientele, market our serv- ices and streamline internal operations. For the new practice this software is a no brainer. for existing practices the value may be even greater as the existing client data base allows for immediate implementation of client satisfaction and marketing resources that this incredible software provides.
Sincerely,
D.W. Leonard DVM
