Do I have to be connected to the internet to use VETport?

Yes.

Is VETport available to be used offline i.e. installed on my computer at the practice?

Yes, but the online internet version is what is recommended. Depending on infrastructure available at the practice some online features, updates and support options will need to be scheduled and decided upon.

Can Clients access VETport?

Yes. "Users Access Control" (Domains) allows clients to access certain aspects of the records. They can view there animal's records, participate in interactive communication plan items to master problems, print off boarding and rabies certificates, client handouts, lab results, or the entire electronic medical record in pdf format. The client also has access to other features - login as a client and see for yourself.

Is a high speed connection required?

No, but it is recommended. Without a standard high speed connection functions like printing pdf files will be slow, however for the most common document needs, we provide html versions which are fast.

Can I access VETport via a mobile phone, hand held computer or pda?

Yes! VETport can currently be accessed from a smart phone, iPad or other browser capable gadgets, we are working to make the smart phone/gadget mobile experience with VETport an excellent one. With the data access capabilities provided by today's cell phones you can access VETport from your car, while on a farm call, or even while fishing (please don't do this it is bad fishing form). Joking aside - have a latte at Starbucks, jump on the internet with your phone using their WIFI, and watch VETport fly.

Is VETport safe on the internet - can hackers gain access?

VETport is completely safe. VETport is developed on a Caravan Business Server, a web based application development platform, which has an inbuilt security system. Till date there is no known security breach for hundreds of applications deployed over the internet and intranet, that use Caravan Business Server as their engine. VETport uses Username and password authentication to ensure the privacy and security of your data.

Can I move my data from an older system?

Depending on the system, most data can be converted to some extent. We will evaluate your data and give you an estimate for data conversion. Most practices just choose client / patient demographics, reminders and the receivables data and are good to go.

Do I have access to my Data?

Yes. You will have access to the data tables. VETport has an advanced SQL like language which can manipulate the data and create comma separated text or excel files interpretable by any other system. Export to CSV or Excel of all important data files is available through the VETport.

Does VETport integrate with QuickBooks?

VETport QuickBooks integration is in beta testing at the moment

I currently run a paper based practice and have both 'hard copies' and electronic scans of these documents. How does VETport associate these scanned documents with VETport's Medical records?

Through a simple process to upload, you can upload, and attach scanned documents and images to the medical record. Once the patient and master problem are active in the dashboard, just click on the attach file link in the master problem launch pad. It could be done from China if you wish. We can also offer the service of incorporating all your current paper based records into VETport as a starting point. By providing us with media containing client and patient records as a pdf, we can help you convert you paper based record to a paperless EMR(Electronic Medical Record).

Do you have to buy multiple licences for multiple computers?

NO. Since VETport is lan and web based, no further licensing is required.

Do I have to sign a contract with VETport?

No. Once you purchase VETport and/or support, our agreement is governed by the license (click here). You can use VETport for as long or little as you wish.

Is there a charge for support?

Will this eliminate the need for paper files?

Yes. VETport creates the foundation for a paperless practice. Outside documents can be scanned and uploaded into the system.

What Operating System do I need?

VETport is the most platform independent Veterinary Application on the market and will remain that way. VETport's grueling field testing ran in a hospital of Mac workstations with the engine running on a Windows server. VETport's engine can run on Windows, Linux and even OS/2. VETport is browser independent. Currently VETport is tested and fully functional on Chrome, Fire fox and Internet Explorer. Fire fox is the recommended browser as it is the most advanced browser today, platform independent, free and works excellent on Windows, Linux, Unix and the Mac!
